Offline continuity and two currencies are not features we add later. They sit under everything, which is slower to build and impossible to bolt on afterwards — and it is why your counter keeps trading when the power does not.
Most systems let a number be quietly changed. Corrections here are additive: the original stays, the new value sits beside it, and both carry a name. Harder to write, and the reason an audit is a report rather than a reconstruction.
