For the shop, not the chain.

One shop, or five. The sale that just completed has already moved the shelf, posted to the books and signed its ZIMRA fiscal receipt — in USD and ZWG, online or not.

One sale. Four records, before the customer has their change.A split tender at till 1 in Avondale — part cash, part EcoCash, change given back in ZWG. The counter writes once, and the shelf count, the ZIMRA fiscal receipt, the expected drawer and the branch takings all read that same sale as it completes.

You already know how to trade. What you cannot get is a straight answer.

Worry one · The drawer

A void here, a discount there, a no-sale at half past four. By closing the drawer is short, and nobody in the shop can say which hour it went short in.

Worry two · The shelf

Mealie meal runs out on a Saturday while three cases of something slow sit in the storeroom holding cash you needed on Monday, and the supplier moved his price again on Tuesday.

Worry three · MONTH-END

The takings, the shelf and the book, assembled from memory and a stack of slips long after the week they were meant to tell you something about.

One trading day, and what the record does at each stop.

Each till counts against a figure already calculated, tender by tender. Anything that does not agree carries a written reason before the shift will close.

Every void, discount, no-sale and refund carries a name, a reason and a time

Corelith does not stop a cashier doing what the job needs. It writes it down. A price override on the Friday queue, a refund at half past four, a no-sale nobody asked for — each one keeps the staff member who did it, the reason they gave and the minute it happened. At cash up the tenders are counted against what the till expected, one by one, and a short one needs a written reason before the shift will close.

  • A shift will not close on a variance nobody has explained
  • An override above a cashier's limit waits for a manager, at the till, in seconds
  • The shift summary counts voids, discounts and short drawers per person

What this does

  • It makes a pattern visible, per person and per shift
  • A drawer short on a Friday might be a reversal the provider settled late — and the note beside it says exactly that
  • Nine discounts in one shift might be a manager clearing short-dated stock, and the reason is on each of them

What it does not do

It does not accuse anyone. What changes is when the question gets asked: on the night, by the person who was standing there, instead of a fortnight later by somebody reading a spreadsheet and guessing.

A balanced drawer and nine discounts is a question, not a conclusion.

Shift summary · three staff · two patterns worth asking about

The receipt is where the record starts. It is the event that should update the rest of the business.

Most shops treat the receipt as a full stop, then spend the evening rebuilding what it meant. Corelith treats it as the trigger. One write at the till, and the shelf, the ledger, the ZIMRA fiscal record and the branch view all move with it.

Two currencies · One price list

One price list, two currencies, and a rate no cashier gets to invent

You set the rate of the day once, centrally. Every till in every branch converts against that same rate, so a tin of beans costs the same in Avondale as it does in Mbare whichever currency the customer reaches for. The receipt shows both. Change can go back in the other currency, and the amount is worked out at the counter instead of in somebody's head while five people wait.

  • One price list maintained once, not a USD list and a ZWG list drifting apart
  • Part cash, part EcoCash, part swipe, part account — one sale, one receipt
  • The rate of the day is set centrally and stamped on the sale it was used for
  • Both totals and the rate used print on the ZIMRA fiscal receipt

The count moves when the receipt prints

A stock take stops being the only number you have and becomes a check against one the system is already holding. Every line carries a reorder level per branch; when the count crosses it, the alert names the item, the shop and how fast it has been moving this week. Supplier costs are booked against the delivery note, so a price that moved on Tuesday is visible next to the one you are still selling at.

  • Reorder levels set per line and per branch, with cover shown in days
  • Deliveries booked against the order, so a short count is argued at the door
  • A stock take closes with a variance that names the line, the branch and who counted

Every branch on one set of numbers, on the night

Takings, cash on hand, stock value and the state of each close sit in one table instead of three WhatsApp messages that arrive on Monday. A branch that has not cashed up shows as unclosed, not as zero, so the group total is the sum of closes that have actually happened. A till variance surfaces against the branch and the shift that caused it, while the person who was there is still in the shop.

  • Each branch closes on its own figures; the group total assembles itself
  • One price list across every shop, changed once and sold at everywhere
  • Transfers between shops move stock and leave a trail, not a phone call

One sale takes as many tenders as the customer needs, in either currency, and prints one receipt. An account customer settles against a limit the till checks before it lets the sale through.

Six sellers, and not a supermarket among them. Six different things going wrong.

Selling off a phoneThe worry

There is no receipt anybody can check, and the stock lives in your head.

What Corelith does

Take the order on WhatsApp and ring it on the same record a shop would use. The customer gets a real fiscal receipt, the count drops as it sells, and what somebody still owes you is written down rather than remembered.

Bottle storeThe worry

Shelf metres are the scarce thing, and singles and cases do not earn the same.

What Corelith does

Stock value and movement per line, so a slow case stops holding the space a fast one needs. Trading hours are set per branch, and a sale outside them needs a manager.

HardwareThe worry

Half of what you sell is not sold in units, and half of who you sell it to is on account.

What Corelith does

Sell by the metre, by the kilogram or cut to length, and put trade customers on account against a limit the till checks before the sale goes through.

PharmacyThe worry

Stock has a date on it, and the money walks out on that date whether you looked or not.

What Corelith does

Lines are received by batch with an expiry against them, so short-dated stock surfaces while it can still be sold and every sale keeps its own trail.

BoutiqueThe worry

One shirt is nine items the moment you count size and colour separately.

What Corelith does

Variants sit under one product, so the count is real, the reorder knows which size actually sold, and the rail is not restocked from a guess.

General dealerThe worry

The owner is also the cashier, the buyer and the bookkeeper, usually at the same time.

What Corelith does

One screen does the sale, the receiving and the day's figures. The same numbers are on a phone in the storeroom, so nothing waits for a desk.

The receipt the customer walks out with is a ZIMRA fiscal receipt

Corelith signs it as the sale completes — virtually, or through the fiscal device already on the counter. The cashier does nothing extra and the queue does not wait: the receipt prints with its fiscal detail on it, and your own record of that sale carries the same reference. So there is no second system to keep.

  • Returns and credit notes are fiscalised against the sale they belong to
  • Sales taken while the power was off are signed in order when it returns
  • The day's fiscal record is a screen you open, not a file somebody assembles
  • Included in the plan price, not sold as an add-on per till

Virtually

No extra box on the counter. The sale is signed as it completes and the receipt prints with its fiscal detail, on the hardware the shop already runs.

Path one · Nothing to buy

Through the fiscal device already on the counter

A shop that has already bought a fiscal device keeps using it. Corelith drives it from the same sale, so the hardware you paid for stays in service.

Path two · Keep your hardware

Four things owners say before they move a shop over.

“We already have a till system.”

Most shops do, and it usually rings a sale well enough. What it cannot normally do is tell you what the shelf holds and what the books say from that same sale. We start with your item list and your opening counts, take one shop live, and let any others follow once that one has closed cleanly for a week.

“Our staff are not computer people.”

A cashier learns the till in a morning, because the till is one screen: scan, tender, print. Training happens on your own items at your own prices, in your own shop, with a person standing beside them. Onboarding is quoted with your plan and includes the migration and the training — not a login and a manual.

“The power and the internet are not reliable here.”

Neither is assumed. The till trades on the device when both are gone and posts in order when they come back, and the queue is on screen the whole time so nobody wonders whether a sale is safe. A shop that loses power for four hours loses no sales and no ZIMRA fiscal receipts — they sign and post in order when the power returns.

“Do we have to buy new hardware?”

Not to start. Corelith runs on the counter PCs and receipt printers most shops already have, and on Kora or CounterMini where a shop wants a purpose-built unit. ZIMRA fiscal receipts are signed as the sale completes — virtually, or through the fiscal device already on the counter.

“I used to find out on Tuesday what Saturday had done. Now I know at seven, and I know which till to ask about.”

The rest of the questions

A single shop runs on Start: US$39 a month flat, 5 users, with the till, the stock, the books and ZIMRA fiscalisation all in it. Grow at US$99 covers 3 sites and Scale at US$199 covers 6 sites, with extra shops after that at US$25 each. The edition is a configuration of those plans rather than a price of its own. Past the users a plan includes, a further one is US$8 a month on Start.

Let us close last Friday with you.

Bring last Friday's takings and a stock file from any one branch. We run your busiest hour through Corelith, and you watch the day close on a figure you can check against your own.
